Education is a priority! To educate the future members of travel and tourism in responsible tourism and sustainable development principles and thinking, is not only of importance but part of the responsibility. Fair Travel, in cooperation with partners Travel Excellence and Air France KLM, organized and led a famtrip for Nordic travel trade in October 2016, highlighting Costa Rica with a strong emphasize on community, conservation and sustainable tourism development. The participants was introduced to sustainability and was showcased how it works in practice.
Akademi Båstad employed Fair Travel for three consecutive years as a responsible tourism expert, to finalize an application to start a tourism course focused on development of sustainable tourism. The course was approved in January 2013 and the first class started in September 2013. Fair Travel created and planned the education and used to hold a position with the management team of the education but has since left it and is now a returning lecturer.
Fair Travel wrote the needs analysis and assessment of the joint initiative project to explore the possibilities of securing a quality assurance on guiding in Sweden through an industry led education to raise the quality and standards of guiding in Sweden.
Fair Travel was employed by Frans Schartau Business Institute to investigate the possibility to start an education on sustainable tourism management for tourism professionals. The application was finalized in 2014 and the one of its kind education in Sweden will start up in November 2015 where Fair Travel will be heavily involved in the planning and running of the education.
A Baltic Sea Region project to bring forward sustainable rural development that ensures quality of life and employment opportunities in rural settings of the Baltic Sea Region aimed at SMMEs. Fair Travel is writing the needs analysis and feasibility study of the project while also lecturing on sustainable tourism development in the project workshops around the Baltic Sea region.
As the initiator of the seminar Tourism, Travel and Sustainable Development in 2006, it was brought back to life in collaboration with Frans Schartau Business Institute 2010. Fair Travel was responsible to manage and organize the event by putting together the full program and speakers with the aim to raise awareness and knowledge on sustainability within travel and tourism.
