Minds are like parachutes, they work better when they're open

Travel defines who I am and it's something I love doing. I will continue to explore the wonders of our world. For me, travelling has been the best education of my life.

My approach to tourism and destination development is informed by many years of travel and a combination of operational experience, theory and practice.

I was born and raised in Ystad and have been based in Stockholm since 2005. I have worked professionally in tourism since 2004, with experience in ecotourism, responsible tourism and destination development. I have previously worked as Managing Director at Basecamp Explorer and Product Manager at STA Travel, and served for six years on the board of the Swedish Nature & Ecotourism Association, until 2020.

I have contributed to the development of specialised training programmes for travel-trade professionals in collaboration with higher vocational education providers in Sweden. I continue to teach and speak in Sweden and internationally, with a focus on training, workshops and capacity building for tourism and destination development.

Between 2018 and 2020, I served as Country Representative Sweden for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). I hold a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from GSTC, awarded in 2017.

Many experiences around the world have shaped my perspective. Among the most memorable are visiting gorillas in Rwanda, swimming with whale sharks in Mozambique, experiencing the wildlife of the Galápagos, standing at Kaieteur Falls in Guyana, visiting Easter Island, and experiencing the hospitality of Dominica and the atmosphere of Old Havana.

Beyond Scandinavia, my most in-depth knowledge covers South America, Africa, Asia and Australasia.

The values represented by Asase Ye Duro also have a personal place in my life. I have chosen to wear the symbol as a tattoo on my forearm—a quiet reminder of the responsibility to respect nature, its resources and the places in which we work and travel.

Travel defines who I am and it is something I love doing. I will continue to explore the wonders of our world. For me, travelling has been the best education of my life.

I am an independent auditor for EarthCheck and have been qualified as an ISO 14001 inspector since 2024. I also hold a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism (GSTC STTP) and a Certificate in Project Management for Sustainable Development (PM4SD).
